A Toasty $5 Meal at Quiznos

I have to admit, ever since I began the five dollar diet I've had to get accustomed to being hungry... ALL THE TIME.  However, it does make the meal that much better because man, the food always tastes so good!  So that brings up a good point:  what is better?  Is it better to eat an expensive meal full of flavor, but not appreciate it to the fullest, or to eat a good, cheap meal when you're starving, and have it taste exquisitely delicious?

Ha ha, that is what I experienced today at Quiznos!

Quiznos is known for their delicious, toasty subs.  Now, a lot of people consider Quiznos to be an expensive place to eat.  That may have been the case years ago, but ever since the Quiznos-Subway war both companies have lowered their prices and produced some very interesting and clever meal options.

That is the case with the Quiznos Torpedo subs.  These subs are miniature versions of their famous full-sized subs, served on a slim & soft deli baguette.  I had never tried one before, but since my budget did not allow me to purchase a full-sized sub, I was directed to the Torpedo subs by necessity.  Boy, am I glad it turned out that way!

I quickly scanned the menu and decided to order the Italian Torpedo, which contains Ham, Salami, Pepperoni, Capicola Ham, Mozzarella Cheese, Lettuce, Tomatoes, and Red Wine Vinaigrette.  Now, this delicacy came at a price: I did not have enough money left over for a beverage!  This is the first time it had happened since going on the $5 diet, and so I simply ordered a cup of water with the meal.

The moment I sank my teeth into the scrumptious Torpedo sub, I was treated to a blast of flavors that amazed me and inspired me.  I realized that if the food is good, you really don't need a sweet beverage.  Water will do just fine!  The meal was so delicious, and the total cost was a dismal $4.35 with taxes.
